Letter 2 : Dear America

Updated: Feb 1, 2020

Your people need help.

Students in American schools have been accustomed to writing goodbye letters to parents in texts while wearing bulletproof backpacks. Confusing the sound of screaming on battlefields with kids at recess.

People get shot standing in pulpits. Blood stains, crimson splatters dripping from cathedral window panes. Jail cells and prison walls are supposed to keep the guilty, but have a whole lot of free men roaming it’s halls. Men completely innocent forced to plead guilty and guilty men never stepping foot into the building. We live in a nation where we compromise the sacredness of race, religious beliefs, and sex. Letting go of values and saying to heck with the protection of those that are less fortunate.

We love to point fingers at Sodom and Gomorrah! Questioning how could a place get so bad. America look in the mirror! If we don’t do something now, we are throwing rocks, skipping blocks, like hopscotch in the same direction. We have a problem here in America! And we ALL need to help find a solution and make it happen! I am I so sick and tired of us being complacent, sitting around complaining, and not doing anything!

Don’t get me wrong, I am proud to be an American, and that is why I am recognizing our faults and I want to motivate us to do better! I believe in us!

I know that I may not be the president, or some renowned congressman, but I am a U.S. citizen and I have a voice that I am going to use. This is my step towards a solution. By writing these letters, I am doing more than pointing out our room for improvement! I’m encouraging you America to stand up and push, press, and pursue a greater future for our country! But what I will not support, is us seeing problems all around us, and simply brushing them under the rug!

Your inspiration can motivate someone else! You have a voice, so use it.

Best regards,

Your fellow American.
